Adam
Parness has been a resident of Horry
County for over 22
years and has proudly served his communities as a volunteer and
career Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter. Adam is the
father of two children, Derrick and Matthew, who are currently
attending Myrtle Beach High School and
Myrtle Beach Intermediate.
Parness is a well established member of the
Horry
County community,
having been a successful local business owner and a long serving member
of the Horry County Planning Commission, serving for six of his nine
years as Chairman. He has many years of experience in land
development, technical review, zoning and land-use. Adam has
held certifications in local government land planning and development .
As a 1987 graduate of the
South Carolina
Criminal
Justice
Academy ,
Parness has enjoyed a rewarding career as a former officer with
North Myrtle Beach and Horry County
Police Departments, and currently serves as a South Carolina State
Constable. Adam also serves as a member of the Board of Directors
of the South Carolina Wind and Hail Underwriters Association, commonly
referred to as the "Wind Pool Board", as the Consumer Representative to
South
Carolina, appointed by the
State Insurance Director, former Senator Scott Richardson.
In addition to his career in law enforcement
Parness has enjoyed a career as a successful business owner while
currently owning Shred Alert and Shredright Corp., as well as former
co-owner and founder of Pronto Press printing company, all in Myrtle Beach .
Adam is also a Commercial Realtor and member of the Coastal Carolina
Association of Realtors. He has spent numerous years volunteering
and has held Board of Director positions in the Myrtle Beach Area
Chamber of Commerce, Surfside Area Rotary Club, and Big Brothers/Big
Sisters of Horry County. Parness has also served on the
'Legislative Policy Council' of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of
Commerce, serving as Chairman and Vice Chairman for three years, and was
recently appointed to service on the Chambers 'Ethics Committee'.
Adam currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the
Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation.
Parness has a strong belief in community
service and heavily involves himself in local and state politics and
government. His work has led him to multiple recognitions including a
'Certificate of Special Recognition' for "Outstanding and Invaluable
Service to the Community" by U.S. Congressman Henry Brown, and
another for "High Business Standards and Practices" by Former Rep. Tom
Keegan of the SC State House of Representatives. As well, his
Myrtle Beach company
Shred Alert has received the designation of "Shredding Company of the
Year" and "Small Business of the Year" by The Myrtle Beach Herald and
the MB Area Chamber of Commerce respectively. In 2007 Adam was
also honored as "Public Servant of the Week" by The Myrtle Beach Herald.
